In a few short years, multi-instrumentalist Cody Wright has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative, soulful, and jaw-dropping young performers in the world. He plays bass, guitar, and keyboards and was co-composer for the upcoming video game release of Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove. (Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC/Mac.)
He is known for his virtuosity on the electric bass using picking, tapping, and fingerstyle, along with his genre-bending style and adaptability and onstage energy. In 2016, Cody with the Eric Gales Band co-billed with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Dweezil Zappa at Guitare en Scene Festival for Joe Satriani’s Birthday Bash!
In 2017, Cody with the Eric Gales Band shared the bill with Santana, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Zac Brown, Patti Smith, Mavis Staples, Jethro Tull, Snarky Puppy, and others at the Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia.
Cody is a certified instructor at ScottsBassLessons.com. He was also featured at Victor Wooten’s Center for Music & Nature in 2015 and 2016 and as a solo artist JT’s Bass Jam 2016, 2017, and 2018 in Anaheim, CA.
Cody’s early training in jazz, fusion, and blues guitar has left him with a keen sense of melody, harmony, and phrasing. His use of the pick and two-handed tapping technique gives him unique tone and facility, but above all, his unabashed love for music shines through in every note he plays.
